A Complete Guide to Getting Hot this Season (Inside & Out)

What better way to make a comeback than by introducing a series I’m doing across pretty much all of my social media platforms. This season, I want to… no, I’m going to be hot. But not just the appearance and physical. The inside too. I have got to regulate this nervous system, if that’s possible.

Now, not to brag, but I’m kind of already hot… But I could really put in some extra (extra) effort. So, we’re getting hotter? Plus, seasonal depression season is upon us, and I just want to stay – not depressed! I also think this is a good way to get back into blogging again. Why are my YouTube, this blog, Insta, and Pinterest content all different? It’s time to turn it into a streamlined ecosystem for once. Really this time.

Ok ok. This fall and winter, I’m getting hotter. Over on Insta, I’m calling this series Fall into Hot Girl Season, cute right? I’m diving into body, skin, hair, wardrobe, and the already mentioned nervous system. This isn’t just some glow up with me journey that I typically do around this time. This is truly putting in the effort to better myself inside and out.

Let’s go over the plan!

For my diet, I’m keeping things simple. 80% Whole Foods, 20% processed food, junk, refined sugar, you know, all the bad stuff. There will be lots of tinned fish, fruit, vegetables, probiotic foods, cheese. Honestly, I just love a good snack plate. The best trend I ever hopped on for real. I’ll do my best to make mine pretty, but no promises. I will be having a tequila soda here and there.

My workouts will stay the same, except I want to get back to my 2020 Peloton app workouts. I’ve tried the gym, and I hate it. It’s really the driving to the gym that does it for me. Maybe I’ll go back someday. But for now, walking 7k-10k steps, Peloton app workouts with dumbbells, and of course my good ol Pilates.

Now let’s get into this skin. Many of my archived blog posts were based on my skincare routine. So I’m definitely not new to this. However, my skin did go from bad to worse to the absolute worst. Now I’m back at just bad and trying to get it to good. Now that the acne has finally cleared up, I plan to stay on top of my actives, retinol 2-3x a week. The main thing: clear my dark spots! Tranexamic acid, azelaic acid, kojic acid – whatever I need to get rid of it all. Oh, I can’t forget the sunscreen!

Getting hotter, of course, includes a good wardrobe. Now my clothes are already in a good spot, especially for the cooler season. I mostly want to change one thing, and that’s wearing some color other than black. I’ve lived in black for many, many, many cold seasons now, and I just want something new. I am thinking white or icy blue. I’m definitely going to still wear black, but some days, I just need to switch it up.

The last appearance-based thing is my hair. I’ve been growing my hair longer for years, and I think I’ve finally found my flow. My hair is curly and fine and breaks off very easily. I could blow on it, and it’ll break. One thing my hair does really well is set. Some leave-in and mousse or wrap foam goes a long way for me. My hair and wet sets 🤝. For those who don’t know, a wet set is freshly washed hair (with mousse or foam) in rollers, perm rods, or flexi rods. I would even say a braid-out could be a wet set. I spent all summer in some fluffy jumbo twists because of the humidity, and my hair grew a ton. I know leaving my hair alone is my best bet. So when I don’t want to spend hours doing a wet set, I’ll do a braid-out or wear plaits.

Finally, the inside, the nervous system, the internal! I’ve been trying to regulate my nervous system since the start of this year. I’ll be honest, I don’t know exactly what I’m doing; that’s why I’m not saying I’m ‘healing it.’ The first thing I’ve been prioritizing is sleep. I don’t do the 2 AM late nights anymore, and I’ve started to unwind around 6 PM. I try my best to be asleep by or before 11 PM. I still have yet to sleep a full 8 hours; the best I can do is 7 hours and 58 minutes.

Scrolling is awful, yet I’m still addicted. It’s actually pretty embarrassing. The days I’m not scrolling are the days I feel my best. Instead, I’ll read, write, paint or crochet. And yet, my phone still has me in a chokehold. I believe getting off my phone will make me hotter; I’m convinced. So, that means more analog mornings to start my day off without screens at least 3x a week. I’ve got too many hobbies to be scrolling the way I do.

I’ve been hyper-fixated on the circulatory system lately. Wood therapy, dry brushing, and red light therapy, and somatic stretching. I don’t feel a huge difference with the red light therapy, but the rest, absolutely, Wood therapy for some reason will have me knocked out and sleeping peacefully throughout the whole night.

Lastly, I have to keep up with my vitamins. Last year, my iron levels took a nosedive, and my doctor called me in a panic. So that means iron every single damn day. My Vitamin D levels were also low and I have to be very careful during the gloomy season. On top of that, I want to increase my absorption with COQ10. This will help with both my iron and Vitamin D levels. And just so I don’t forget, I’ll be enjoying a cup or glass of hibiscus tea as much as I can for Vitamin C and anthocyanins.

Did I get everything? This was a lot, but it is an ongoing journey. The appearance stuff is something that I’ve already been doing, but putting in just minimal effort. As for the inner stuff, I’m only just scratching the surface. While this is kind of a glow-up, it’s really more just getting my ducks in a row and paying better attention to my health.

I also have a YouTube video on getting hotter this Fall. I haven’t decided if I want to make this a long-form series, but we’ll see. I will have the short-form series posted on Insta and maybe TikTok. So follow along if you’d like! Thanks for reading.
