7 Things I’m into Right Now

Normally, I’d do the whole “I’m back and here’s why” spiel, but I feel like that’s not necessary this time around. Just know, it’s been busy. I’m a 32-year-old woman, and I’m trying to find the swing of things again.

Speaking of being in my 30’s, my taste has drastically changed over the last couple of years. Okay, maybe not drastically. I’ve always been into very luxurious and premium items, but I couldn’t afford them. I’ve also always been one who splurges on high-quality items when I can. Now, I’m in this mindset where I say…”buy the damn thing!” Of course, there are caveats to that, but if there’s something you want, get it. Life really is too short. Anyway, I wanted to share the 7 things I’ve been really into lately. These are things I said to myself, “omg just buy it already!” And I did!

Journals

Journaling is something I’ve always been into, and buying composition books and flimsy spiral notebooks just doesn’t cut it for me anymore. I love a Moleskine or a Leuchtturm for junk journaling and bullet journaling. Hobonichi has managed to steal my heart, even though they are technically planners. One journal that continues to be my favorite is the Aspinal of London A5 refillable luxury journal. It’s stupid expensive for what it is, but I can’t get enough of it. Once you start getting into the planner and journal world, it’s hard to stop buying them. IYKYK.

Calpak Work Bag

Tote bags were my thing for the longest, but I always felt they got dirty very easily and killed my shoulders. I recently saw the Calpak Luka Duffel on the clock app and had to see what all the hype was. I went for the mini version because the duffel was a little much for everyday. I absolutely adore my Luka Mini! It is the perfect work bag to carry all of my journals, my sketchbook, and iPad in. All those pockets remind me of cargo pants, but in bag form. Another alternative to the Luka is the Baggu Cloud bag if you just so happen to be looking for an everyday work bag.

Osea Body Oil

Not even two years ago, I was still buying the Jergen’s body lotion in the cherry blossom scent as well as baby oil. I was really a creature of habit when it came to my after-shower routine. Then I decided to switch it up. I started with the Sol de Janiero Bum Bum body oil for the longest. I love the scent SO much, and it’s perfect for layering with perfumes and body mists. I went into Sephora to re-up on it, and they were completely sold out. So I walked over to Blue Mercury and saw the Osea and loved that scent just as much. I did switch back for a little while, but honestly, the Osea lasts all day and makes my skin feel so soft and smooth. It’s the best after-shower oil in my opinion.

Jewelry

Even though I’m able to wear costume jewelry without it turning my skin green, I love fine jewelry. This is a really recent thing, though. Now, I don’t have the pockets for solid gold jewelry just yet, but I can purchase silver jewelry just fine. I believe sterling silver is very slept on, actually. A few weeks ago, I got my conch, tragus, and second lobes pierced, and I have in some of the cutest jewelry while they heal. Now, I can’t imagine putting cheap jewelry in my ears just because of how blingy my ears are. Also, looking at my older rook piercing in comparison to my newer piercings lets me know what I want for the future.

Piercings

Once upon a time, I would have gone to a little mall kiosk and got my cartilage pierced with a gun all the way from my second lobe up to my helix. In fact, a few years ago, I would have pierced my own ears just to save some money. I now know how piercings are supposed to look and what they’re supposed to be pierced with. I absolutely will leave it to the professionals. I currently have eight piercings, but I’m looking to get about seven more. They will all be done by a professional! I honestly don’t mind how much it will cost.

HP Sprocket

You would have to pry my HP Sprocket out of my hands. I know there are other mini printers out there, but this one is still hanging on! One of my biggest opps, is my home printer. It works when it wants to, and never works wirelessly. So, I was elated when my mom gave me her HP Sprocket. It’s perfect for junk journaling and works faster than any home printer. The paper you put inside can be sticker photo paper, and honestly, that’s a big selling point.

Nail Polish

Who would have thought nail polish would be making a comeback? Everything about gel, I just don’t like. In fact, I prefer acrylic over gel nails any day. Right now, Holo Taco and Nails Inc are my go-to nail polishes. I truly don’t even mind the drying time, mostly because it fits my whole vibe of wanting to slow down. Not everything needs to be optimized. Last year, I did acrylic overlays, and every time I went for a fill, the price would steadily increase. It went from $70 – $95 within three months. By the time my birthday rolled around, I soaked my nails and slapped some nail polish on. If I ever spend that much on my nails again, it’ll be because I got a Russian manicure and a hard gel overlay.

This is only one little list of things I’m into right now. I’ll probably update or add to this list at some point. I truly believe in just buying the damn thing. Soon, I’ll write up something about how many always comes back to you, but that’s for another day. I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it.
