Realizing There’s Nothing New Under the Sun
I’ve attempted to film this too many times to count, so maybe writing it out will help.
But I’m sick of productivity and optimization. There I said it. I’m tired of implementing new productivity tips and systems to I guess “maxx” my life. Now I know following any tips was 100% up to me and no one else but it’s all I was seeing up and down my YouTube and Pinterest.
I too wanted to be “that girl” and monetize my YouTube channel by filming floating head videos with an aesthetic looking background. I realized very quickly how boring and not “me” that was.
Recently, I told myself that I don’t need to make groundbreaking content that changes the world. How exhausting is to think we have to create the most valuable and even original content out there when there’s nothing new under the sun?

I truly had to think about what I liked doing when it came to content again. And the answer is, I love to put people onto new (to them) things. I love directing people to go watch a really cool TikTok creator or YouTuber. I love talking about my latest premium purchases. I see myself speaking about manifesting the life you want, but in a way that doesn’t seem so out of reach. I love sharing what I’m wearing to an event or wedding. I love planning my birthday every year; it’s almost always themed.
None of these things are new or life-changing and that’s okay.
I spend so much time trying to find inspiration on Pinterest and Instagram. Meanwhile, the inspiration is right in my journals, my camera roll, and my bedroom. There’s even some in my archived posts.

I believe we try to be the online version of “that girl” or “her” that we forget we’re already that girl and her in real life!
Treating social media as a tool again rather than a way to find our next identity will help us all out. That’s one of the reasons I’m bringing the blog back, because other platforms kind of force us into a box. Granted, we can escape that box by just not using it but we can also change it by using it the way we used to.
I know I’ve said many times “I’m back” and this may not be any different, but I want it to be. So maybe, just maybe, this time will be.
